Zipline Drone Deliveries

One operator went from 20,000 deliveries to two and a half million in under seven years.

This is the cumulative count of commercial deliveries flown by Zipline, the American company that has done more autonomous drone delivery than anyone else. It starts with blood and medical supplies flown to rural clinics in Rwanda from 2016, and the milestones here are ones Zipline or its coverage stated at the time: about 20,000 deliveries by September 2019, over 225,000 by December 2021, one million in April 2024, two million in January 2026, and more than two and a half million by July 2026, alongside more than 135 million autonomous miles flown. The final point is different in kind: a timestamped reading of Zipline’s own live delivery counter (2.79 million on 20 August 2026), making the whole run about 140-fold in seven years. Zipline itself noted that 70% of those deliveries came in the two years before the one-million mark, so the curve is still steepening. The chart deliberately tracks a single operator rather than an industry total. No one publishes a clean, consistent figure for all drone delivery combined, and the honest components sit on different clocks: Wing, owned by Alphabet, passed a million of its own in 2026, Ireland’s Manna is around 300,000, and China’s Meituan had roughly 450,000 by the end of 2024 but reports less consistently in English. Summing those would mean stitching numbers from different dates into an industry total that no one actually stated — a made-up figure wearing real components.
